Another love of mine: growing things

Writing has been my creative outlet for as long as I can remember.

While other kids were learning the piano and climbing trees, I wrote stories. Short stories, poems…even snippets of a novel or two (or five). Fast forward to today and I’ve turned my passion into a career (and figured out that I also really love climbing trees).

After completing a BA degree in English Literature, I pursued a master’s in Anthropology at SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies) in London and discovered another passion of mine – the food system.

Alongside my own classes at SOAS, I attended lectures from the Anthropology of Food MA degree, went to talks at The British Museum and City Lit University on food systems and, even got a weekend job managing farmers’ markets across London. After I completed my degree, I pursued a career in copywriting, communications, and content – mainly within the food sector.

I am an innately curious person and love to learn – whether through podcasts, books, or human interaction. This love of learning has further developed my knowledge in areas such as sustainable business, technology, and personal development. I believe that this plays a role in better understanding the brands I work with and being a more open, self-motivated person to work alongside.

My writing is also fuelled by other passions, such as sustainability and outdoor exploration. Whether interviewing small-scale producers trialing sustainable farming practices; researching the plight of plastic waste in our oceans, or writing copy for brands who care about their impact – I want to use my words to contribute to positive change.

Alongside my writing, I have worked as a small-scale organic grower – growing food and flowers for Michelin-star restaurants, farm shops, and local communities. I also have a passion for climbing, hiking, and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
